Our Diagnostic Services 

With our in-house veterinary diagnostics lab, we can offer advanced diagnostic testing that helps our veterinary team accurately diagnose and treat your pet's medical conditions.

• Radiography (Digital X-rays)

  With a radiograph (digital X-ray), our vets are able to examine the internal systems of your cat or dog to uncover information that might be invisible from the outside. 

  Radiography is non-invasive, painless, and safe. It only utilizes very low doses of radiation. Since the level of radiation exposure needed to conduct radiography is so low, pregnant females and very young puppies and kittens can have this procedure done. 

  We can use radiographs to evaluate bones and organs as well as diagnose conditions including broken bones, chronic arthritis, bladder stones, spinal cord diseases and some tumors. 

• Ultrasound

  The use of diagnostic imaging helps our professional veterinary team capture highly detailed images of your pet's internal structures.

  With ultrasound imaging, we expose part of your pet's body to high-frequency sound waves to take images of the body's insides. 

  Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, we are able to see the structure and movement of your cat or dog's internal organs, as well as blood flowing through the blood vessels.

  Having this valuable technology available to our vets in our in-house lab means that your dog or cat's condition can be diagnosed quickly and treatment can start sooner. 

  We are also able to call in an ultrasonographer for advanced testing.

• Bloodwork

  At our Laguna Woods vet lab our vets can conduct a handful of common and specialized blood tests to help us assess the health of your pet and diagnose their illness.

  A few of the most common veterinary blood tests we run are CBC (complete blood count), white blood count, hemoglobin and MCHC, hematocrit, platelets, eosinophils, and blood chemistry tests.

• Urinalysis

  Urinalysis is an important diagnostic test that provides your vet with key insights into the chemical and physical properties of your pet's urine.

  We primarily use urinalysis to evaluate the health of your cat or dog's kidneys and urinary tract system, but it can also help us detect problems in other organ systems and is essential for diagnosing metabolic diseases such as diabetes.

  This is a valuable diagnostic test for both healthy and sick pets and you should have it included in any comprehensive evaluation of your cat or dog's overall health. 

• Fecal Exams

  A fecal exam is the microscopic examination of your pet's feces, that can be completed at our in-house vet lab in Laguna Woods, Orange County.

  The primary goal of a fecal exam is to detect and treat any GI infections that may be compromising the health of your pet and even the health of your family. Fecal exams let your vet determine if your animal has intestinal parasites such as roundworms or hookworms. 

  Parasites can make cats and dogs irritable, uncomfortable, and can cause more serious conditions. Some can even be transmitted to humans.

  Because these parasites reside in your pet’s gastrointestinal tract, they are often hidden out of sight. The only way to find them is with a fecal exam.

  Annual fecal examines should be a vital part of every pet's routine wellness exam.  

• ECG / EKG

  If your veterinarian conducts a physical examination and believes your pet might have a heart disorder, they will usually take chest X-rays and an electrocardiogram (ECG / EKG).

  This procedure is fast and easy to complete. It uncovers information that could be integral to your pet's diagnosis. In other cases, a cardiac ultrasound might be needed to find disorders in the chambers of the heart.

• Digital Dental X-Rays

  If your pet is suffering periodontal disease, most of the damage would be occurring below the gum line where it can't be found easily. Digital dental X-rays help our veterinarians assess your cat or dog's oral health.

  Digital X-Rays are safer for your pet. They let our veterinary team examine the roots, bones and internal anatomy of your pet's teeth.

  With digital X-rays, the risk of radiation exposure for your pet is significantly lower than with traditional X-ray technology. We are able to see below the surface of your animal's gum line to fully examine every tooth.

  This technology gives your Laguna Woods vet with immediate results, and lets your vet project them onto a computer screen to review.
